• Compete with the IRC

    The IRC currently attends a variety of competitive conferences. From Regional to Nationwide and more recently even International conferences, we currently attend the following conferences:

     

    Fall:

    - Boston Area Regional Model United Nations (BARMUN)

    - National Collegiate Security Conference (NCSC)

    - North East Regional Model Arab League (NERMAL)

     

    Spring:

    - McGill Model United Nations (McMUN)

    - London International Model United Nations (LIMUN)

    - International Model NATO (IMNATO)

    - National University Model Arab League (NUMAL)

     

    Northeastern has had a strong history at many of these conferences but is always on the lookout for new conferences for the IRC to send a delegation to. Conferences such as IMNATO and NUMAL have a strong history of Northeastern attendees, often featuring Northeastern students as prize winners and even secretariat positons. Other conferences such as LIMUN are new to the club as we experiment with exciting new opportunities now spanning across the globe. Conferences like NERMAL are hosted by Northeastern in collaboration with NCUSAR.

     

    Boston Area Regional Model United Nations (BARMUN)

    Hosting Organization: Boston University International Affairs Association

     

    Timeframe: Late October

     

    BARMUN is a three-day conference in Boston which the IRC sends a delegation of about 15 Northeastern Students each year. This conference includes General Assemblies, Economic Committees, and Crisis Committees.

    National Collegiate Security Conference (NCSC)

    Hosting Organization: Georgetown International Relations Association

     

    Timeframe: Early November

     

    NCSC is a three-day conference in Washington DC which the IRC sends a delegation of around 15 students each year. This conference includes Assemblies, Councils, Regionals, Cabinets, Non-traditionals, and Joint Crises.

    North East Regional Model Arab League (NERMAL)

    Hosting Organization: International Relations Council at Northeastern University

     

    Timeframe: Early November

     

    NERMAL is a three day conference held at Northeastern University in Boston. The IRC provides secretariat as well as sending a delegation of up to 30 delegates in addition to secretariat. Committees range from the Council of Political Affairs to Joint Cabinet Crisis simulations.

    McGill Model United Nations (McMUN)

    Hosting Organization: International Relations Association of McGill University

     

    Timeframe: Late January

     

    McMUN is a three-day conference in Montreal which the IRC sends a delegation of around 15 students each year. This conference includes General Assemblies, Economic and Social Councils, Specialized Agencies, and Crises.

    London International Model United Nations (LIMUN)

    Hosting Organization: The LIMUN Foundation

     

    Timeframe: Early Febuary

     

    LIMUN is a three-day conference in London, United Kingdom which the IRC sends a delegation of 8 students. This is a conference the IRC has only recently added to the slate in 2023. This conference makes use of almost every Model United Nations committee out there, including standard committees as well as specialized and historical councils.

    International Model NATO (IMNATO)

    Hosting Organization: Lemnitzer Center for NATO and European Union Studies

     

    Timeframe: Mid Febuary

     

    IMNATO is a three-day conference in Washington DC which the IRC sends a delegation of around 15 students each year. This conference focuses on the primary committees of NATO such as the Military and Political Committees.

    National University Model Arab League (NUMAL)

    Hosting Organization: The National Council on US - Arab Relations

     

    Timeframe: Early April

     

    NUMAL is a three-day conference in Washington DC which the IRC sends a delegation of around 25 students each year. This conference focuses on the different councils of the Arab League such as the Councils on Palestinian Affairs and Political Affairs.
